  • If you have to hold reading or menu materials from a distance in order to view them clearly, if you suffer from headaches after reading, most likely you need reading glasses

  • The easiest way to know your power is by using a diopter reading chart (a sheet of paper with lines of text printed in various sizes), or having an eye doctor evaluate your vision with an eye exam that takes only a few minutes to complete.

  • When you look at your prescription, the "ADD" number (either a positive or a negative) is what specifies how much "extra" power has been prescribed for reading. One of the example is that +1.50 or a +2.00.

  • Your age is a guideline only. For example, most people require vision enhancement of +1.00 at age 40; but everyone eyes are different. You should always have a specific examination done to determine what type and power you require.
